EGL Avdesign Inc. offers a variety of services for the medium to small operator. We can provide specific repairs, ferry flight recommendations, approved work processes, as well as Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for modifications. We have worked with various firms across the country; and we can recommend other organizations that can provide Structures Manpower; Non Destructive Testing (NDT); Composite repairs; or painting.
Some of our services are:
-
Repair Designs - Major / Minor Damage
Damage is evaluated and an Approved Repair Design is provided. Major or Minor classification will be determined by the DAR. A major repair will include a RDA Document signed by a Transport Canada Delegate. (Ref: Transport Canada AWM 521.253). A repair deemed 'minor' will be clearly indicated on the repair document. Any changes to the Inspection criteria - DTA / SDIR requirements (if applicable) to the aircraft will be provided within 12 months post issue of the Major Repair. We provide AOG, Urgent and Routine Delivery times.
-
AOG (Structures - only) Consultation Service
Most operators are knowledgeable with daily line maintenance tasks - but unfamiliar with the occasional 'exceptional' structural issue. We provide a source of information and options that will expedite the aircraft return to service. Not all repairs are listed in the aircraft manuals - there will always be situations that will require approved data to allow compliance to the Aircraft C-of-A. We are always on call to provide an expedient answer or option for your situation. We are associated with approved maintenance facilities that can provide technicians; parts; heat treating & composite repair capabilities within hours.
-
Ferry Flight Recommendation for Permit
In situations where the aircraft has to be flown to another location and damage cancels the Aircraft C-of-A; a document can be provided recommending an acceptable for 'ferry flight' assessment for the aircraft - given an evaluation of the damage is acceptable. The aircraft operator can relay this document to his local Regulator along with his application for ferry flight. In cases where temporary repairs have to be performed prior to flight; temporary repair documentation and technicians can be arranged to travel to the damaged aircraft. (Ref: Transport Canada AWM 507.04)
-
In-house Process Approval
Some maintenance tasks require special tooling; processes; or procedures that may be difficult for some facilities to implement such as cad-plating or welding. For example; an in-house approval substituting "brush-cad' for cad-plating or a sheetmetal repair for a weld repair - for a specific component - could be possible. The specifics can be investigated and an in-house process/procedure can be tailored to your operation allowing an alternative to the OEM directives. Tailoring a specific repair or process to the operators capability will reduce excessive expenditures in time and materials for commonplace issues.

Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)
STC is an approved document to modify an aeronautical product from its original design. The STC is not only an approval of the modification but also describes how the modification affects the original design. Instruction on the installation of the modification and Instructions for Continuous Airworthiness (inspection requirements) are included in the package. The STC can be provided for a single aircraft or fleet of aircraft.
